Driver side window motor

Asked by Sep 15, 2016 at 11:30 AM about the 2003 Ford Expedition XLT 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have an '03 Expedition. A month ago the driver side window stopped
working. It went down but not up. I ordered and replaced the switch box in
the driver side door and all the windows worked! A week ago the driver side
window went down but not back up. I thought maybe the switch again but its
only a month old. So I took the door panel off to check the window motor, it
was very hot to the touch and made no noise when pressing the button. I
decided to replace it. The replacement was easy to do. When I reconnected
all the wires and turned the car on, the window went up on its own and now
will not go back down! The motor is brand new and is very hot to the touch
as well.  Hindsight is I'd rather have the window up than down but I'd really
prefer to fix the window. Why is the motor so hot? What can I do to get the
window to work?
