why does my 2002 ford escape rear door not unlock

lift door does not unlock when I use the remote or the door unlock key on inside of vehicle,

The lock actuator is probably faulty. You can verify if it is working if you hit the button and you don't hear it activating. You will need to remove the inner hatch panel to access it to remove and replace.
