my car does not pick up any speed as it climbs any steep, actually it lose  
power the speed drops and gear does not change and it heats up

It could many things but does sound like a catalytic converter.

I agree if you had a misfires in the past, that can contribute to clogged Cats. Have a shop diagnose your issue.
