my ford festiva stalls out in 1st gear but runs fine in reverse?

I'd love to help you out man but we need more info. Is this a 5 speed or auto? the car runs fine? Any erratic idle or possible vacuum leaks? the car drives in reverse but stalls trying to go forward?
