STARTER ISSUE

Asked by Aug 29, 2014 at 05:11 PM about the 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD LS Extended Cab SB HD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

We are having issues at starting,Batts good,,no jump start,key to start and gauages die and the only light on are the park brake and the engine check light,seems it may be the ECM.Seems the same as LPJs issue back in may,any thoughts?

Have you checked the battery ground cable wherever it attaches to frame, block, chassis. (especially if when you jumped it and hooked the ground jump cable to the battery post instead of another ground on yours ..if you grounded it frame to frame this won't apply)....follow it the neg- big wire and see if it's loose or corroded. If automatic try neutral....guessing...

Thanks,will do,maybe a list of the ground points on the vehicle would help,is this available on line?We are down here in New Zealand and its Saturday,so its a weekend fix!

Thanks for the chart,the pre heat light doesn't come on when the key is turned to ignition,would that still relate to a bad ground?
