Chevy Silverado 2003 2500 Duramax
Ay my chevy Silverado 2003 2500
duramax Suntimes die when I first started
in the morning, a half minute after I started
it? It won't start again until I hand pump
fuel and then it will start Looking for a
clues, if somebody is having the same
problem what the possible solution
Don't know much about the Duramax diesel but this sounds like an air leak in the fuel supply system. When it finally does start does it blow white smoke for a short period of time and run just a little rough, if so that is a sure sign of air in the fuel. Found this out on an old 671 Jimmy diesel.
I have a similar problem. There is a cluster of metal lines near the fuel tank that has some rust holes in mine. I'm told the repair will cost ~$600, but it isn't my daily ride, so I haven't fixed it yet. Often, I will get out of the driveway and a few hundred yards down the road before it stalls, then I need to manually pump it back up. After that, it tends to be good for the day.
Your hand pump probably needs to be rebuilt! You can buy a kit with everything You need to do it for about $10.00 bucks!
I had the same issue air is getting in. Didn't have fuel leak either . Brought it to a guy that know's Duramax's and found the fuel lines were bad. He replaced the 2 lines that lead up to the fuel rails. The chevy dealer could not figure that out.
