please help.. sooo cold.

200 chevy silverado 6.0 liter vortec... 2500. I went to change oil...drained oil pan,
repleced oil filter, pulled out a little over 4 quarts. I put the plug back in pan and filled with
a 5 quart jug of motor oil. my dipstick show way over full, also i not have any oil coming
out of pan or by the filter. any suggestions, I turned over for les than a sec to try and
release the jamb up???? very weird

Start it, watch the oil pressure gauge, when it stabilizes, shut it down, wait a minute or so, pull out dipstick and wipe clean, then check the oil level, it should be in the normal range, if not add oil until it is there.

check the engine oil capacity for that year/model. Mine is an 05 same motor and it takes 6 quarts.
