When I open my front driver side door on my 06 Silverado, my dome light sometimes comes on and somethimes does not.

I have to press down on the latch in order for the dome light to come on and for the key in the ignition indicator sound to come on as well. It only happens sometimes but is now occurring more than i want it too.  I have also noticed that when i bang on the steering wheel, the dome light and sound will come on as if the door was open but only for a few seconds.  HELP

May be the interior light switch on the side of the dash that meets the door when it is closed.
