Fuel sending unit

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My fuel gauge stopped working, I replaced the
pump/sending unit. It shows the level at the time
of install but did not change when filled. Works
perfectly when tested outside of tank but does not
work once installed in the tank.

Check to see if the float is hanging up on something, or double check the wiring running back to the plugin. I believe there is a separate power wire for the sending unit, other than the power wire for the fuel pump.

    When I fill my car up, it only goes to 1/4 tank, after awhile it'll move down to E when I'm about out of gas.... I think... I tested the gauge, gets 12volts and I can move the needle all the way up...
