Everytime I cold start my 2004 chevy Silverado 5.3 I hear a loud clicking I've been told I could possibly have a lifter that's stuck but I have no clue.
may be a lifter tapping or stuck. pull valve covers and adjust them. either use a feeler gauge to spec or loosen slowly til u hear it tapping then tighten til it stops plus 1/4 turn.
Are you using the correct weight oil. An oil that is too thick won't flow quickly in the cold and the lifters will clatter. Some people swear that putting thicker oil in a high mileage engine is better. It's not!! Stick to the weight and type that the manufacturer recommends. HTH. -Jim
