Starting problems with my 1999 Chevy Z71
I have a 1999 Chevrolet Z71 with a 5.7 Vortect. I'm
having starting issues. It will start first thing in the
mornings when it's cold out. So I drive it to work
and when I get off of work around 3 or so, it has a
really hard time starting. It takes me 5 mins or so to
start it. I turn the key about 10 times before it starts.
I have fuel pressure. What could it be?
It still may be a fuel issue. Fuel pressure on that one should be 56 to 63 lbs. If anything I would do a fuel bleed down test by hooking up a gauge to the Schrader valve, build up fuel pressure, then with the key off, watch the gauge. It should not drop more than 5 lbs in 3 minutes. Otherwise a ignition control module fits these symptoms also. Take it out and it can be tested at Auto Zone
The fuel pressure is staying around 60. I put a gauge on it and left it over night and it never dropped. I'm going to look into the ignition control module.
Yep fuel pressure is good and no leaky injector assembly. Heat will affect the ignition control module. Have a good one!
