Unless I'm wrong, which I seem to be on newer vehicles, the over flow is connected to the radiator via the cap. If the temp gets too hot, the antifreeze/water mixture is released through the cap into the hose connected to the overflow reservoir. There should be hose clamps at each end of the hose to hold it on the nipple of the overflow reservoir and to the other end connector. It can either be a spring type that you pinch with a pliers, or a screw type needing a screw driver to loosen the screw type fastener. After you get the fastener lose of off, you may need to twist the hose with a pliers to break lose the hose from the nipple.
