How to make my car louder and sound better for a low price

Asked by Sep 06, 2014 at 11:10 PM about the 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo LS

Question type: Car Customization

I have a 2004 Monte Carlo LS 3.4L V6 and I recently took stock off and put a y-pipe with
dual magnaflow exhaust system. It is too quiet for what I want. When it goes over 2,000
RPMs it sounds almost like stock. I'm thinking about putting different mufflers on but I can't
find anything that is for LS! Everything is for a 3800 engine and not my car. I am open to
any suggestions as long as it meets the budget! Thanks!

Go online & find Chambered Exhaust. I had a Walker system on my 69' big block SS Camaro. The whole pipe is crimped every 12" or so, with a perforated baffle down the middle inside. The whole pipe is somewhat a muffler with a super deep unique sound. Glass packs sound so cheap, like an aah-O-ga horn because of blow-back. Us old school hot roders used small Corvair turbo mulflers.

Watch out for the answers above ..depending on the state where you live make sure what ever you do doesn't violate the emissions & sound levels for your states inspection guidelines ..

I ended up taking the magnaflow mufflers off and putting these small one chamber mufflers on and the car is a lot louder and sounds great! Thanks for the help everyone!
