Stater hesitates before starting after replacing starter in 2003 Monte Carlo
did you set the flywheel / to drive gap... is the nattery charged and not failing under a load... all wires good and tight?
Battery is fine. I took off old starter and put in new one. When I turn the key it hesitates for a couple seconds before it starts.
I didn't touch the fly wheel, just took off old and inserted new. Is there a setting on the fly wheel to set to the starter?
Make sure you have the correct replacement starter. The 3.8 and 3.4 starters are almost identical and are frequently boxed wrong. Make sure your old and new starters are the exact same length and diameter (fatness). If not exchange the new starter. Also, remember to disconnect the negative (-) battery cable before starting the job. HTH. -Jim
