Asked by Jun 25, 2015 at 02:45 PM about the 2002 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS

Question type: General

I have a 2002 montecarlo ss 3.8 and I replaced the stock air intake with k&n cai and removed the res. and put replacement pipe instead   now my engine cam on saying I have a bad oxygen sensor.

Was the pipe electric welded into place? If so I have seen the O2 sensor get damaged by the welder, also check the O2 fuse heater fuse it could also have been blown. If all that checks good then it is possible that it was just a coincidence that the sensor went when the system was opened.
