Do you need the thermostat gasket and housing gasket replaced when you replace the thermostat in a 2002 monte carlo ss?

I am replacing my thermostat and the thermostat I am taking out has a gasket on it by the
new one I bought does not have the gasket on it, do I need to buy the gasket too?   And
do I need a gasket for the thermostat housing?
