I am replacing the thermostat in my 2002 monte carlo ss. The thermostat I took out of my car has a gasket on it but the one I bought to put in does not have a gasket with it. Do I need to purchase that gasket seperately and do I need a gasket for the thermostat housing?
should be a slip on gasket that goes over the outer surface of the new t-stat, and yes replace it with new. Assume you have the 3.4l.... MOST AFTERMARKET COMPANIES SUPPLY THE NEW SEAL WITH THE T-STAT
yes, it supposed to have a gasket..get one from a good store or dealer shop before replacing.
It is a must unless you don't mid leaks.
