I was wondering why Ford does not recommend All season tires on a 1994 Ford Explorer? Onwers manual sez to get all terrain type tires - why not the smoother All season tread?

They recommend AT tires cause the vehicle has the capability of getting off of the blacktop. If all you do is street driving then by all means go to a AS tread or even just a plain street tire but you do go street you can get stuck very easy if you do get it off the highway.
