I had a new ignition key cut and they identified the micro-chip (supposedly?), and when I go to use the key it cranks but never turns over and the shifter cannot be put manually into neutral. Did the locksmith not id the correct micro-chip?
'87 would say Inspect the engine and transmission mounts...they have had a reliable life..time to see if they are still holding up the show...a floorjack with a woodblock would show the separation...would account for the lack of shifter control~
Normally on that vehicle the security chip would only disable the starter, but some Corvettes also have the fuel enable cutoff attached to the security system as well. Is there a light on the dash that reads SECURITY?? This can be bypassed. This link will help. http://www.diy-gm-security.com/
