Hello, hope i can get some help with starting my 86 corvette, it was parked for a couple yrs. i bought new battery and the engine turns over but do not start. no fuel at schrader valve in engine.
I bought new battery and car turns over having been parked for couple of yrs. no fuel from
schrader valve in engine compartment. I am wondering if its the fuel filter relay . i did not
hear any noise coming from the pump. the fuse is ok.
I am wondering if the relay would stop the pump from starting if relay is bad.
any help will do. cant afford a mechanic at this time. Thanks.
if it has been sitting, and not prepared for storage, it is possible that the gas has gone bad- also, evaporation in the tank can cause rust and dirt in the fuel system- so this could be pump, filter, lines, injectors, etc. you will have to be like: "Sherlock Holmes and the Case of the Dead 'Vette"
Thanks! I decided i would buy a fuel pump relay, i paid about $15 at Autozone, I disconnected the switch and noticed that two of the electrical leads were touching, the insulation was partially missing near to the connector. I separated the wires and wrapped both with electrical tape. I will be renting a multmeter from Autozone to check connection, hopefully it did not burn out the pump. I will update you guys on the outcome.
If you have had the car parked for that amount of time it is possible that the fuel pump sending unit has roted if so replact drain the tank chang the fuel filter and buy an extra you may need to chang the filter another time or two depending on the amount of rot in the tank GOOD LUCK
