Maybe your stepmom could tell you who she sold it to. Could be she would remember if she sold it to someone in town or where the buyer lived. Any way, the person who bought it had to have registered it shortly thereafter. If you know the city where the buyer lived, see if you could check the registrations of that registration year for that particular car. 1972 vette, wouldn't be many being registered.
