1965 Vette powerglide trans mission good or bad thing?? 2, 3 ,4 Speed??

Asked by KS-XFordGuy Dec 10, 2006 at 05:03 PM about the 1965 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe

Question type: General

HOw does the powerglide transmission shift??  How many speeds?  What ratios?
Why would I want or not want  PowerGlide over the 4 Speed besides the obvious of "control".

How can something named "Powerglide" be bad? =D Just kidding. This was a relatively rare features, and in such, is good in its rarity. However, all 2021 Corvettes came under a service bulletin released from Chevy warning of a potential control rod problem. I'm guessing if yours is still on the road, it was not too badly affected. Other than that, there is no reason not to want the Powerglide unless you are a die-hard stick-shift fan.
