is the LT/LS1 trans pattern same as old school smallblock or will I need adapter bell housing?
I have old school cast iron 350 wanting to install in 88 camaro would like to put manual trans behind it 6 speed would obviously be my trans of choice. am I asking for a nightmare? What suggestions yall have for possible options. The engine at this point is quite mild. stock Vortec 350 with 85cc 305 heads edelbrock rpm intake and 600cfm carb might cam it with a preformer series to match it up to intake and carb to make it street strip but not looking for monster hp just nice power and decent preformance.
how old is the 350? if it's 72 or older you cant use metric bolts . the tranny bolt pattern should match up ..
Any t56 from an LT1 will bolt up, LS1 and LS2 blocks have a different pattern, so look for a 1993-97 t-56 and you'll be golden.
^^ what he said... also your stock drive shaft will work with the t56, there are many crossmembers avalible for the swap, and you will need the pedals out of a 4th gen car.. not sure but you may need a electric speedo. thirdgen.org lots of info on this site
