Power brakes use vacuum from the engine for the power assist. When the engine stops you have a reserve of one or two brake pedal applications, that's it. If the engine won't start check for spark and fuel. Spray some starting fluid down the throttle body. It should run a few seconds on that. If so, it's a fuel problem. If not it's either a no spark problem or it's jumped timing. So check for spark first if it won't run on the starting fluid. If you have spark and fuel (starting fluid) and it still won't run, do a compression test. If all cylinders test very low or zero it's jumped timing. HTH. -Jim
