Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2002 6 cyl awd vue that will not start. No obdi codes showing, no check engine light. Starter turns, all lights radio etc functioning, fuel pump comes on for a couple of seconds, dash lights and indicators radio etc. all work still will not start. Hooked up reader says no codes,  and had no check engine light either. No previous issues no warning signs. Pulled in the garage as normal shut off came out next day, will not start, just keeps turning over, no fire !

check for power to the coil(s) before you blame the coils...may well be a bad ignition switch~....achem there is an ignition relay...they are cheap~ https://www.google.com/#q=My+Saturn+Vue+ignition+relay&tbm=shop

Old post, I finally figured it out myself. It was the crank position sensor, easy fix. Couple of bolts and a new sensor, 20 minute fix. Think the sensor cost something $40-$50.

I know it is old post but I want to answer one of the questions. CPS or Crankshaft Position Sensor will not allow the car to start because it doesnt know where the crankshaft is -- in other words, what cylinder to fire. It wont throw a code because in order to throw a code the car must be running and if it CANT START, no code. When teh car does start it doesnt see a fault --- Thank GM for that. Saabs do it all the time.

have a Saturn vue 2003 and it stopped on the road the steering got hard and everything shut off. At first I thought it was the battery but it's ruled out and it was the alternator that went bad so I will be getting that replaced.

I have a 2008 Saturn vue front wheel drive 4 cylinder that won’t start. I’ve replaced the battery and starter and it’s still not wanting to turn over, any ideas as to what’s wrong?

my answer to all is . I don't know why you all had all of these problems with your Saturns, but like I said before and will say again my Saturn must have been make special for me because i haven't had any of the problems that you all have had. I even had the battery that came with the car until three or four years ago. and when replaced had more problem with the new battery then i ever had with the original battery winter or summer. and i still drive my VUE with not even 89,000 miles on it. but if i could find a newer VUE i would buy it in a minute.

Gurum75tn...hence your mileage 89,000! Most of us are 130-200 thousand and change give it time because you just jinxed yourself with your rubbing it in.

I have a 2006 Saturn Vue with close to 300k miles on it. I'm having a problem with it starting. I'm hoping its just the battery and nothing too expensive.

YEP!!!! Crankshaft Position Sensor. $62.00 and a E8 socket is all it took!! Starts and runs like a top! This Vue only had 63,000 miles on it but was parked for 4 years without being started. It had no spark or fuel. We used a scanner and found a PENDING code for the CPS.

I, too, have a Saturn Vue (2008). I have replaced the starter, battery and once the garage told me the cables were loose. I have taken all keys off my key chain as to lighten the weight of the ignition key. However, it still will not start every once in a while. No warning. I just never know when it will not start. Sometimes I can't take the key out of the ignition. No lights will come on. Not even a starting noise. at one point, the clock seemed to go crazy, blinking off and on. The CD player sounded like it was going crazy. Sometimes it will start by itself in 20 minutes. Last time it took about an hour before it started on its own. I'm losing confidence in my mechanic

Guru9ZC1KG - regarding your issue w/ not being able to take the key out of the ignition - had the same problem w/ my 2014 Captiva (same as the Vue, just Chev branding) - had it in the shop multiple times till they discovered it was the Shifter Assembly failed internally sending an erratic voltage signal to the ignition lock solenoid. They replaced the Shifter Assembly.
