How difficult is it replacing the Optispark on a 1997 lt1? Any special tools needed?

Most likely the harmonic balancer and water pump must be removed so you can get to the Opti-Spark unit. When replacing the cap and rotor assembly be sure to reconnect the vacuum hoses to the cap. They're important. They keep fresh air flowing through the distributor cap that prevents corrosion under the cap. HTH. -Jim

With a harmonic balancer puller, maybe 3 or 4 hours. Figure on a Saturday afternoon to do it. HTH. -Jim
