can u put a 400 pontiac engine in a 1979 trans am that use to have a 403? And if u can do it is there anything special to make it work?

Yes,may have to change motor mount,s and do a little modifying to the exhaust,but will drop in to it.

i keep hearing you have to change the shaker to make it work? ever hear anything like that?

were having problems with the mounts so far and got diffirent ones out of classic industrys. do i need diffrent frame mounts or just motor mounts?

did they only put 400 pontiac in the 1979 ws6 versions?, every time i look it up it comes up as w72 and that they only put the 400 in that model and it was only the manual ones the rest of the 1979 had 403 olds motors. any truth in that?

Yes,the 1979 model is the only year they used the 400,and it was a manual three speed.
