Does anyone else have problems with third gear coming out of gear while driving

I have a 97 6 speed trans am ws6 and I have noticed that she pops out of 3rd gear when i am driving sometimes. Does anyone know the reason. She only has 56000 miles on her and I don't hot rod her a whole lot.

Probably your 3-4 gear shift fork. Thats what happened to me until I got my transmission rebuilt.

hmm thats odd. those trannys are pretty well built. id just go down and talk to a shop if i was you. might be a simple fix.

Chech out this link. The 3-4 shift fork is made of aluminum and easily bends and breaks which would be why your car is kicking out of gear. http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/manual-transmission/1110356-falls-out-gear.html

sounds like a syncro. not a shift fork. I know a great place you can get your tranny rebuilt cheaply and BUILT! http://www.tickshift.com
