Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I am planing to buy my first car and I am wondering if going for a used BMW 3series or 5
series 2007-2008 with about 100k of miles is a good option? any advice? I am a college
student, how much will I expect to spend in maintenance? if anyone can give me a rough
annual maintenance cost that would be nice.

I've owned mine for 2 years now, and annual costs can range in the $1000-$3000. At 100K, you will be replacing worn parts. Also the normal things like brakes and tires. If you aren't doing the work yourself and have a local garage do it, add to those costs. BMW's are luxury vehicles at luxury costs. For a college student, I always recommend a inexpensive car till you graduate and get a decent paying job. Get an older Ford, Honda or Toyota, Subaru, and save your money.

Agreeing these cars can be maintenance intensive and mechanical breakdowns can be really expensive.
