I have a 96 Ford F-150 xl 4x4 5.0L . The question is will a rear end out of a 95 Ford F-150 xl 4x4 5.8L work,or is it a different gear ratio?
Check the sticker on the driver's door, should give you the axle code. There might also be a stamped metal tag attached to the inspection cover of the rear end. Codes are here: http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/115597-axle-codes.html
That is the unknown factor, the actual housing should both up but you will need to check the tag on the rear end to get the right ratio, Ford put in different ratios depending on equipment or package for each rig.
