I have a 96 Ford F-150 xl 4x4 5.0L . The question is will a rear end out of a 95 Ford F-150 xl 4x4 5.8L work,or is it a different gear ratio?

Check the sticker on the driver's door, should give you the axle code. There might also be a stamped metal tag attached to the inspection cover of the rear end. Codes are here: http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/115597-axle-codes.html
