Will starter from a 1988 ford LTD work on a 2003 Ford Taurus?

I've never tried it, but I'm going to say something that old will never bolt up to something that new. I don't even think the engines are the same.

The 1988 LTD was a Windsor V8, either a 4.9 or 5.8L, rear wheel drive. The 2003 Taurus was a V6, 3.0L transverse mounted front wheel drive. Without looking at any specs I would guess no way in hades would these two share a starter.
