My 97 ddodge ram 1500 4 by4 will not go into any gear at all.

I have changed the filter and oil but
havint tried it yet and does the
thermostat have any thing to do with
the transmission being faulty

Thermostat has nothing to with the trtransmission. I strongly that you have a pprofessional look at the prproblem.

Well I'm a do it my self so i know how. andim going through the process of elemination so it might be the govenor pressure cylanoid

The tranny will catch every 20. mins. and move a foot and kick back out
