77 Chevette Won't Start
My 1977 Chevette has always been faithful to fire
right up even after sitting for long periods of time.
About 4 months ago my boyfriend tried to start it
and thought he needed to pump the gas pedal
(which you don't) and flooded it out . Since then it
will not run.
I've checked the oil and there's no gas mixing, so
we're good there. It's getting fuel to the carb, plugs
have good spark. It backfired a couple of times but
Try taking a propain torch, and with the spark plugs out, blow out each cylinder. Your just burning out the excess gas. There will be a wooosh. Make sure the plugs are dry, may want to stick some new plugs in at this time. Make sure that spark is white in color. The distributor rotor after time would burn a hole threw the center of it to ground. Just have to look for a black carbon mark in the underneath side of the rotor. May want to replace that also.
