I had a new rebuilt steering column installed in my 1982 chevy el camino , the problem is i have to turn my key several times for my ignition to turn on. could it possibly be a bad lock key starter?

There's an adjustment on the ignition switch at the lower end of the column. Loosen the bolts holding the ignition switch and you can slide the switch up or down. HTH. -Jim
