Fuel pump relay bad, fuel pump wiring open circuit, plugged fuel filter, new pump non operational, no injector power or trigger signal, just mention a few to start.

Is it possible it may be the oil sending unit ?

Only if yours is equipped with low oil pressure shut down. Then there would be a separate switch located on the same pipe as the oil sender, if there is no pipe then your is not equipped with low oil pressure shut down.
