88 chevrolet celeberty takes long time to shift out. Changed filter and fluid still no better

from bobweb~The automatic transmission has to be real hot with the engine idling in park for the fluid dipstick to read properly. Make sure the dipstick shows full (but don't overfill) under those conditions. I would have the GM dealer remove the transmission pan and check the pan contents for obvious signs of transmission failure. They will change the transmission filter. It may be clogged up. Then if you still have problems with the transmission, you may need a new one. If your speedometer acts up or doesn't read right intermittently, tell the repair shop to check your Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) solenoid which has a high failure rate on early GM cars.
