what do you car lovers think about General Motors and other American car companies?

GM seemed to be heading straight downhill. I am still quite a bit worried. They recently stated that they will not be making any SS cars or high performance vehicles for a while. With the removal of Pontiac and the other companies, they will be easily able to make a comeback. But who knows what is in store? They have a the new Volt which is supposed to be the new "green" car for America. They do seem to be putting almost all their faith into that vehicle though, even though it has a high price range. Like i said before, I am a bit worried, but I believe they will come back to their prior strength

i agree with ya. the gm management is just morons. ford is fine. dodge on the other hand is iffy, but they were in this situation before years ago bounced back like nothing.

American car companies make bad cars all of them are just not in tuned to what other car companies are doing. There cars don't last and they are huge cars that are really heavy and so get bad gas mileage even the smaller cars just are so stupid, i don't really like ford but they do have the right idea on a few cars. Because they are putting turbos on a few cars so they car have a smaller engine improve hp. and gas mileage. German car companies have been doing this for 30 years and even now only ford is doing this.

dont knock american cars. i drive a 95 dakota and it drives like a new car, my dad has a resent model focus and he loves it, and i could go on and on this. the other cars are getting bigger. it has nothing to do with turbos. just resently toyota is dropping some of their high end models because of a major recall that will put them in a similar situation as gm or dodge.

hey everyone who posted, thanks for your responses. I agree with you all, GM has made some good cars, and some bad cars. But when they make a great car, they follow up by not modifying it for next year, and they leave it the same. Ford is doing well, and thanks to this Toyota problem (Now another one with the prius and the Brake failure) they are doing better. perhaps GM needs to make more cars that are accepted everywhere (like the Ford Focus)? It doesn't have to be a hatchback. but just something that blends well with the environment.

i ment the gas pedal recall but the other recalls will ad insault to injury.

I mean no harm stating recalls or anything that could hurt an automotive company, it just shows that in this day of age these happen to be the only things that can affect car companies the most.

gm made alot of good cars and alot of bad but i think we can all agree that all auto makers have that car or cars with that storys its all because gm are cars for the ppl so every one has one or had one at one time so every one has a story about a friend with a bad gm its like your boss he will remember all that bad you ever done but will forget all the late night over time and hard work you put in your weeks i only american cars why? thay are cheep to run and cheep to fix END of topic

I Loved my Buick Century but it had problems I just wish GM could do better, If they put their minds to it they could be great. It will be awhile before I get excited about another GM product, The S10 Blazer I bought for my daughter had one problem after another. Good luck with your project.
