How long can grand prix go for?

Asked by Lovelywolf May 23, 2018 at 01:21 PM

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I am buying my first car and the offer of
buying a 2000 grand prix is on the table. It
has 270k on the body and that is making me
slightly worried. Most of the miles are
highway, and it had a replaced transmission
and engine (not sure how many miles ago
however). Has new wheels and new wheel
bearings. With some rust, and minimal paint
chipping. The car has been sitting for a few
months (but kept in a garage and
maintained throughout). She is priced at
900$ is this worth it? Especially it being my
first car?

With the price and knowing that the engine and transmission have been replaced at some point in its life, I'd say totally go for it. The 3800 V6 engines are great engines, the transmissions (4T65E) are kinda okay. They aren't meant to be run too hard, but they'll certainly get you where your going. I'd personally go for it.
