2014 GMC Acadia - tail lights: one flashing, other solidly lit

Asked by GuruWYNB2 Apr 21, 2018 at 09:06 PM

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Just noticed my tail lights are on in our driveway.
One light is flickering, the other is lit.
Called Chevy road side and they said it could be tail
light assembly issue. Any thoughts? This car is a
money sucker!

Typically (and i say that lightly) if an electrical component acts "demonically possessed" (i.e. flickering and such) its a short to ground. So a bad tailight assembly could be the issue if the wiring inside the assembly is shorting out somewhere... but... in reality the way to know for sure is with a multi meter and a wiring diagram... I am not surprised that gm said to replace the whole assembly... 1) its expensive 2) thats what some recent college grad engineer believes is the problem having never touched a car before. (Because of course the wiring itself couldnt have issues) Anyways... hope this helps.
