Can I shift into and out of 4 wheel drive on the fly in a 2004 ford ranger extended cab pickup with a 4.0 v6 and manual transmission?

They say you can shift it into 4WD HI while on the fly but it is hard on the transfer case, I have never shifted any of my 4WD rigs into 4WD at any speeds faster than a crawl, standing still in nuetral is even better. As with any 4WD you should never be exceed 45 mph even though they say you can go faster. Now AWD rigs are different, so don't confuse the two.

I want to know can you tow a Fiat four-wheel drive with a transfer case are you able to shift it out of gear and tow it with all wheels down
