My car , 1978 olds 98 regency 403 ,makes a clicking
noise like a stick hitting a bicycle spoke. It only makes it
when im in drive or reverse and i press on the accelerator.
When i let off the accelerator it goes away.Sometimes you
here the noise ;sometimes you don't.
Sounds like a sticky valve lifter, or the valve adjustment needing to be checked. You could try a additive in the oil to clean sticky lifters, just go to the auto parts store to see what they would recommend. Also oil pressure should be checked, the engine probably has a lot of miles on her, ticking from the rocker arms is common. The engine just may be worn. Oil additives may help it along.
