05 taurus wagon door ajar light

friend has a taurus wagon , 05 , probably has the 3.0 , she says the door ajar light stays on and drains her batt. even though the doors are shut , does anyone know a good place to start ?

spray all door latches with wd40 (lots of it) and open and close each one at least 20 times...sensor is in latch and is stuck
