2010 c300 brown coolant

I just bought 2010 c300 and the tempature gauge is
above half also the coolant is brown and oily. Why ?

Oil might be mixing with the coolant, so a potential headgasket issue. You'll have to have a mechanic look it over for you, or have the shop you bought it from fix it, if you got a warranty.

Or the previous owner may have put some kind of stop leak junk in the cooling system to "fix" a leaking radiator or other cooling system component. HTH. -Jim
