Car won't start
I had trouble starting my 1983 honda
accord,an then at night it wouldn't start,I
fitted new fuel pump,an still won't start,it
starts if I put fuel in carb, but then stops
when fuel is gone, what I put in carb,I would
be greatfull for any advice,I'm not sure if
any pipes blocked for fuel to get through,if
so,how can I unblock them?
It could be the fuel filter that is plugged up, I would try changing out the fuel filter. Also make sure the electric fuel pump primes up when you turn the key to the on position, make sure it runs. Otherwise the carburetor may need to be rebuilt.
I have checked,an fuel pump clicks on,an checked that fuel went into pump,an it did,but the fuel doesn't seem to be filling fuel filter now,so wondering,is there a way of sucking the fuel from the pipe to the fuel filter, coz seems not to be coming through now, there is petrol in the car,as I put a fiver in the tank, with a petrol container, thanks.
Change out the fuel filter. If gas, petrol is not getting to the carb after replacing the fuel filter, then crack open the gas line at the carburetor and have someone turn the key to the on position to pump the gas up to the carb. This will bleed the fuel line from air. Once you see gas coming out good from the line tighten it up right away. Put a rag, towel, under, around by the line so it soaks up the gas coming out.
Thanks,will give that a try.
Couldn't see any fuel coming through,so do you think pipes will be blocked, coz the fuel pump works ok,any more help, thanks.
Then I would try and figure out how to prime the fuel pump by getting gas into the fuel pump somehow. The fuel pump is in line, maybe crack open the line in front of the fuel pump, take the line off of the carburetor and fill the line up with a serenge of some sort, then tighten the lines and keep putting a little fuel into the carburetor starting the engine. Hopefully it will suck the fuel up from the tank.
Thanks,i put fuel line direct from filter to carb,I put a little bit of fuel in carb,an put pipe direct to carb,an it started, how long can I drive it with main pipe going to carb,an not to filter, has don't get my wages till next week, can I still drive it like this.
Mean can I drive it still without it going through the filter, coz like I said,I don't get my wages till Friday,to buy a filter. Thanks.
So your fuel filter is plugged, right? You can run like this as long as the fuel line connections are good, a safe connection, as so it does not leak gas. Your only taking the chance of a piece of dirt getting caught up in the needle and seat in the carburetor, which would cause a flooding out condition. Fuel filters are under $10 for that thing, borrow the money?
Yes,I seen it on the internet, yeah and I seen them for bought £8. I shouldn't be going to far in the car,so prob order it of internet,as with it being a old car, parts are hard to find in auto part shops.
I was driving slow,an my brakes locked up,but when I jacked car up,they released, why would they lock up?
On the front? Or the rear. I could see it doing it in the front
Other day locked on front,an then today it was the back that locked,an first I took pipe of servo an air came out an put it back, but that didn't unlock back brakes,so I undone nuts an jacked it up,an then it released itself again,so just wondered, why they would lock up while driving, the brake warning light is on aswel, but still baffled why brakes would lock on an make car skid to a stop,as can't understand what would make it do this. Thanks.
