Question type: General

A vehicle listed on your site indicates that it
had an accident.  The dealer claims the
Carfax is clean.  What explains the
discrepancy and how can I get more info

What you want to do is run vehicle history reports from the 3 different sources that are available for accident checks.. The first being Cafax, which has its own car history database. The second is AutoCheck, operated by Experian, which also maintains its own separate database for autos. Last, you definitely want to run an accident report through the Government database, which is ran by NMVTIS and they offer several different approved vehicle history providers AND by law ALL insurance companies, salvage yards and the DMV in all 50 States are required to report any and all accidents, as well as other used car facts; to them. These NMVTIS reports are available at prices that range from free to $20. For sure you want to go with the free vin check and free vehicle history option; which is available on https://www.LemonChecks.com The only thing you need to run your report and find the accident you're looking for is the 17 digit VIN. I will upload a handy diagram for you that shows the most common locations to find your VIN number. I wish you the best, hope this helps you, and Good Luck!

But what is an "accident reported; no damage reported". I mean, doesn't an accident mean that there was damage? We're not talking about a dog peeing on the seat, or the spilling of a mug of coffee you left on the roof.
