Subaru legacy clutch
I have a 1992 Subaru legacy no turbo. Is there any
way to know if it has the big clutch or tge smaller
clutch without pulling it and measuring it?
If this is the 2.2L engine, looks like the 8.875" diameter clutch goes in there. From what I see called out for this, one other clutch disc can go in there, it says it is 8 6/7 dia. which is 8.857" dia. I mean I can't see where .010" radially would make a difference. Thats 3 of your hair strands put together. All have the same spline.
When I called the part store they told me there is a 8 and a 9 clutch and I had to know which one mine was and the only way they knew to find out is to pull it and measure it. There's a big price difference in the 2. 8=$161.00 and the 9=$350.00
Pulling the transmission first will make sure you get the correct part.
My only problem with pulling part first is I live 60+ miles from nearest part store and that my only transportation to get new part. :(
If the car parts store will allow you to return the parts you could buy both and return one. Put it on your card!
I did some checking for you. You have the 8.875" dia. clutch disk. This is for the non turbo. The turbo charged engine takes the 9" dia. clutch disc. Go buy your parts.
Thank you Rowefast. Your awesome. . :)
Your welcome, the parts guy must have missed that.
