Rowe, P71 is the designation of the Police Interceptor version of the Crown Vic. So the original question asked what goes wrong? Nothing specific to the car, same as any other vehicle past 150K. Transmission, exhaust, suspension, etc. Replace parts as they fail and keep up with maintenance.
Oh, thank you Tom.
Spark plugs, coil on plugs, transmission. It depends on how it was maintained and driven. I have never figured why anybody would want a P71 as most of the are not treated very well. A standard Crown Vic, Mercury Marquis or Lincoln Town car would be a much better vehicle built on the same outstanding panther platform.
