I have a 1999 Pontiac sun fire that just shut
off and won't start I have cked fuel
pressure ,spark at all plugs, cked pulse at
the injectors cked plugs no problem found
only code was a pending map sensor I
don't think that would make not run maybe
run rough any ideas where to go on this
Have the ignition control module checked at an auto parts store.
A crank sensor also would prevent it from starting.
I will ck those 2 things and let you know what happens thank you
The control mod is good is there a test I can do to ck crank sensor I worked on fords for 20 years I don't have a good scanner to ck it that way is there a pinpoint test to ck it
They say it is like a magnet. I think you take it out and just run power threw it and check it against something metal. If the control module is good more than likely the coil pack is good too. Not much to these, is it a 2.2L?
Yes it's a 2.2 I'm getting spark at all cylinders can the crank sensor be bad if I'm getting spark
I don't think so. You have spark. Something else. What was the MAP sensor code?
What was the fuel pressure?
I had a pending po107 41 psi on the fuel pressure
I cked power to map I have 5 volts cked sensor with vacuum and voltage changes I'm running out of things to ck the only thing I havnt cked is compression
Your killing me hear. Fuel pressure should be 40 to 47 lbs. and I don't see either that the po107 is causing this also. AND you have spark. Well, it wouldn't have anything to do with the anti theft system you think? May want to try and go threw a reset procedure. One problem with that is I am not too sure on what that is. I just know about it. I do have a GM procedure, not sure if it works on that car.
Compression it is...
Thinking about the anti theft, when that kicks in it usually shuts down the fuel injectors, and you said there is a pulse there.
I will ck compression and try to do a reset on theft system this car is driving me nuts I can usually figure out any problem but hard when you can't find anything wromg
The thing has a timing chain too.
Yes, if you have spark and fuel injector pulse it's not the security system. Next thing to check is compression. If all cylinders test very low or zero, it's jumped timing. HTH. -Jim
Found no compression thks for your help
Unreal. Sometimes we get blinded by technology and and over look the simple old school basics...
You're welcome. Glad to help. Thank you for letting us know! -Jim
