Question type: Maintenance & Repair

3000gt sl smoking when revving up to pull out but
doesn't smoke when under load or accelerating? I
would think it might be valves or valve stems but it
doesn't do it under load any suggestions?

1 Answer

Blue smoke at idle is worn valve guide seals. If the smoke goes away when driving it's the valve guide seals. Occasionally it may be a faulty PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation) system. But not that often. HTH. -Jim
