Car won't start

My 2008 Chevy Aveo has 57,000 miles on it. I have
only had it 10 months and never had any
problems. Tonight I started it to go home after
work and it ran for 10-15 seconds then died. Would
crank but not start. Finally after 10 minutes of
waiting it started for 5 seconds then died.  Now it
won't start at all. Engine light is on. Had to tow it
home. What could this be?

Sounds like a fuel pump failure. Try spraying some starting fluid down the throttle body. If it'll run for a few seconds on the starting fluid it's a fuel problem. Next turn on the ignition but don't try to start the engine. Can you hear the fuel pump run for about 3 to 5 seconds? If not, check the fuel pump relay. If it's good, and the fuel pump won't run it's most likely going to be the fuel pump. You may be able to get it started by hitting the bottom center of the gas tank with a hammer. Don't beat the tar out of it. Two or three whacks should be good. HTH. -Jim
